According to Consumer Reports’ latest cell phone survey, two-thirds of respondents said they had at least one major complaint with their wireless carriers, and only 54 percent were completely or very satisfied. The consumer advocacy group asked more than 50,000 wireless customers living in 26 U.S.

Motorola Droid Sales Gain Momentum as Holidays Closing In

Even though the holiday season has just begun, the Motorola Droid from Verizon Wireless has already turned out to be one of the greatest hits of the period – analysts estimate that more than 700,000 units have already been sold since its launch in early November. Neither Motorola nor Verizon has released any official sales figures for the handset yet, but according to RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Sue, the companies have managed to sell between 700,000 and 800,000 Droid units in less than a month.

New Kind of Low-cost Cell Phone Microscope

An engineer at University of California, Los Angeles has found a way to convert a cell phone into a microscope capable of diagnosing diseases. The gadget, though reminiscent of CellScope developed by a team at UC Berkeley, is a much cheaper but accurate diagnostic tool using only $10 of off-the-shelf hardware and a cell phone , reports New York Times. Professor Aydogan Ozcan, inventor of the cell phone microscope, has already formed a new company named Microskia to bring this technology to the market.
